XC riders, rejoice! How about a crazy-light, full-carbon 29er hardtail with razor-sharp handling and blazing acceleration? Yes, please! Giant's XTC Composite 29er 1 is equipped with a tapered head tube for quick steering, a massive, OverDrive down tube for precise tracking and asymmetrical chainstays for tire and mud clearance. Up front, Fox gives you a 100mm fork so you float above the trail effortlessly and a 15mm through-axle to slice through any corner out there. You'll hold every line, too, with the big, 29-inch Giant rims and Schwalbe tires hooking up to everything. Forging ahead, you'll churn out blissful miles with a Shimano 2x10 group and pilot your XTC with Giant controls. And since every ride has to come to an end, you have great SLX discs to put the clamps on.
Giant’s OverDrive 2 delivers up to 30%-better cornering and sprinting stiffness and control than non-tapered front ends with:
1/2) 1 ¼-inch/1 ½-inch diameter bearings
3) 1 ¼-inch diameter Giant stem
4) Tapered fork steerer
5) Giant OverDrive steerer plug

I've had this bike for just over a year and other than the rear hub freewheel bearing wearing out I have no complaints. I looked at several brands of bikes with comparable features and didn't find anything that really came close. Some were, but had lesser components or lesser features. It's made my racing and riding much more enjoyable. This bike in my opinion has been about 4-1/2 stars.

I was sorry to read the other review and do hope the problem has been fixed. For my part, this bike delivers total pleasure.
- Poor Construction
I had this bike for about a year and the back sprocket just came loose from the back wheel, i can't even pedal now, i am very dissapointed.
- Mountain Biking
Lets just say I took 20 minutes off of my time on a 24 mile race from the same race the following year, due to this bike!!
